X-ray microscopy cannot match the resolution of electron
microscopy. Currently, resolution for XRM is at the 100-10nm
range, depending on the system. However, XRM can be used in
ways that EM cannot, particularly for embedded structures and
biological systems. The current state-of-the-art x-ray
microscopes use synchrotrons as their source, and hence the
potential for JMAR to use their system to make available more
competitive small lab systems.
