Drew, in mulling over what I have seen so far, this is what my little pussycat brain is telling me:

There is the potential fo both good news and bad news in what these analysts are saying (if you believe them to begin with which is quite a stretch IMO).

The bad news scenario: there is increasing competition in the corporate sector, which is Dell's strength. This may have caused revenues to slip, and may be a harbinger of tougher times.

The good news scenario: the information seems to be out of sync with the data from IDC et al. Also, it doesn't seem to be consistent with CPQ's recent results. Second, if I read the second-hand accounts of the comments correctly the analysts do not seem to be suggesting a decrease in their earnings estimate for this quarter. That implies a significant shift to higher-margined products.

But there is also the potential for GREAT news!!! Suppose they are wrong on the issue of decreased revenues (not that these mental giants are ever wrong, but just suppose), but correct on the issue of a shift to higher-margined products. Wouldn't that be fun?

TTFN,
CTC
