Even though you aren't a Republican, you have just espoused the Republican spin nicely.

While my statements may reflect certain ideas, it is different from your interpretation as "the Republican spin"...... I don't think so.

One has to take things from whom they come, in your case, for someone to come out in a public board and express the following:

....I have to question the wisdom, to express such. At least our grandiose hero Revvie Falwell has a vested interest in TV ratings... but you...

Even if you agreed (as you do, given your post), there is no need for you to make yourself look as you support that view, not that I am stopping you, but frankly it is quite foolish to even entertain such thought, let alone express it....

So not to make this more boring that already is... here is this just for you.... Others should ignore it as it really is pure rubbish, not worth of this excellent thread.

As for me being a Republican..... as I said, Bow, wow, wow...

However Henry saved me and suggested I call myself a Libertarian. I will take it.

yes the USSR was militarily and economically bankrupt when Reagan took over. However they weren't about to collapse. The western policy of detente had given them breathing space and they would have been able to continue stumbling along for a few more decades, and hundreds of millions of eastern Europeans would have continued to live in virtual bondage. When the Reagan administration upped military spending the Soviets struggled to match it. Like an exhausted runner at the end of a marathon they struggled to match our finishing kick but collapsed instead. I have my criticism's of Reagan but his military spending was the final blunt blow that forced the rotting corpse of Sovietism to collapse and liberated millions. Without that blow it is tough to know how much longer the Soviets would have continued teetering along.

BTW one of the several reasons I despise Nixon was that he authored detente and gave the Soviets the breathing space to continue their oppressions. I keep hearing that Nixon was so great in foreign policy. I don't but it one bit.
