Seems to me that 'Space' could be a commodity Boeing could own. With their technology and 'access' to the great beyond, there is so much potential for Boeing to profit. I'm not familiar with all of Boeing's joint ventures and current operations, but instead of making a 'small' profit on launching other peoples satellites, could they retain ownership and lease these services to other companies? Then as communications or any other business that uses outer space in some fashion grows, Boeing would profit more.

Just a thought, but where does Boeing stand in some of these related areas? Communications, etc.
