A- Here is a total WUSS call (if I've ever seen one)..

The guy from Salomon Smith Barney (Gardner) is quoted as saying (apologize for no link) that he's "sticking with (his) estimate, BUT THAT HE EXPECTS NO MORE THAN SEVERAL PENNIES UPSIDE!"

What kind of call is that? Another way of putting it: "I believe the estimate is .31, but to cover my butt (don't want to be another Kurlak)....I also saying that anything up to .35/.36/.37 will also be my call!"..Give me a break!

Salomon Smith Barney has had Dell as a hold forever...They do not concern me....They have been wrong all along...any right call would be luck at this point....

Niles merits consideration...He has been more consistent (and accurate) than most...I am really surprised, though, that he is sticking with .30....5.2B (revs) and .30 (EPS) would represent a pretty sizeable decline in growth...

As Gabriel Dubois has noted, Niles & company seem to totally disregard the incremental addition of storage to 4Q revs/earnings..either (1) Niles/company are way off or
(2) Gabriel/me/others here are wrong...Should be pretty clear on Tuesday..

I guess one consolation is that there will less focus on crazy, off-the-wall "whisper estimates" on Tuesday...No one coming on the thread yelling ".42!"......Thank God

i try to keep it simple...excess info fries my brain...as in dell comments from analysts......the market is manic, as are most investors, i keep a cool head and allow common sense and logic to give me clarity of forward vision...as in dell, why dump when it's doing what it should be doing...as a business, not as a trading equity...buy for the long haul, take advantage of other's insecurities, and sell them options, at the correct time for me...worst time for them...as i stated early, not rocket science to see dell is more oversold than overbought...everybody buying puts for insurance, or as a replacement for a short position, i'll gladly accommodate them by selling....i'm the insurance company, i'm writing the premium...if one thinks dell is going to tank further why not blow out the longs (also very foolish), rather than buy insurance..."time heals all wounds", including the umpteenth "end of the world because kumar says there is no growth" selloff....analyst are pure folly, they make assumptions and crunch numbers...none of who have ever lived in a business environment and understand a true dynamic..too much book learning, not enough "rolled up shirtsleeve" apprenticing... i'm a net buyer at this point...many on this thread loved it at 99...but at 89 dell scares them...a bit of convoluted logic...
