I don't really feel strongly for Intel one way or another (I do have a few hunderd shares on which I continuously write covered calls)

BUT

Which planet do you reside in ? They have been in the mode of "about to be whacked by AMD" for the last 7 years.

Well, they do have another farm called McKinley. But Merced seems like a basket case, at least for the moment. That alone wouldn't worry me; the original Pentium was a basket case at first, too.

The real problem: looks like PC growth is moderating while margins are shrinking. If true, both AMD and INTC are in trouble; it's just that AMD is priced for trouble, and INTC is priced for perfection.

Dell's action today in response to mild news shows what happens when merely very good reality hits a stock priced for perfection. Thus my puts.

Slippery Slickster - Re: "ntel bet the farm on Merced

Thanks for the straightening me out.

I was under the mistaken impression that it was AMD that one week ago declared an upcoming loss due to competitive pressures from Intel.

You bring a whole new meaning to the expressions DENIAL and DREAMING.
