5. A crunch is going to come in North America for natural gas because they have no money for drilling - for gas or oil.

Although companies have curtailed some drilling and exploration in oil, they are actively drilling for natural gas.

6. I should buy North American companies heavily weighted to gas. In particular Alberta Energy, which is becoming a giant.

Accumulate and maybe. We might be nearing the bottom but trying to catch the bottom is said to be a fools game. Alberta Energy has been frequently sold by it's insiders as of late, although I understand the Canadian Gov't is funding some drill shack construction.
