Are you saying that the market moved away and you entered a new order for the reminder at a different price?

this is what i am guessing, but something about your wording makes me suspicious that you meant something else.<<

You're right -- I meant something else. I don't remember the exact sequence of events, but my perception at the time was that I was not seeing any prints that would account for me not getting filled (i.e. orders that got there before mine) and there were still bids within the range of my limit order. I felt I had waited long enough (can't say how long this was -- I admit to being a jumpy trader) so I canceled and re-entered the order, possibly lowering my limit -- again I don't remember -- and was filled. The market may have weakened during this, but I wouldn't say that it really moved away from me.

All the time in high volume situations I see ARCA orders that seem to be getting passed by. They are like Little Big Man who the bullets can not see. I assume this has to do with MM's filling someone else and ARCA having to wait 10 seconds before moving on. OTOH, these orders seem eventually to get filled, and I can't say that the person placing the order would have had better luck through any other route. I'm still learning and experimenting, and like I say, I'm jumpy.
