Voltaire,

If that is how you define manipulation, I completely agree with you. But that is a fair game, otherwise the cheerleading in this thread may be construed as manipulation by the shorts as well. Everyone has a right to express their opinions and analyses.

Solution, of course, is not to be influenced by short-term price fluctuations and/or media boom-bust stories, do one's own research and invest for the long-term in solid companies.

But price manipulation via market maker collusion is a different story altogether. I do not think that it exists for a liquid large cap like DELL (or at least it will need a Soros-like capital in billions to achieve that as someone - unfortunately I do not remember who - noted, which is unrealistic). And that is illegal too.

-BGR.

>>Now let me get this straight from some of our threaders. An Analyst can come out, open his
ugly mouth, speak about ten sentences and cause a stock like DEll to drop 12 points, right? And they want the little people to believe that a stock, stocks, or the markets can not be manipulated<<

I agree totally and what is worse they place their leverage bets and rig the outcome before the market is open to us. This has to be one of the greatest legalized rackets of modern times.
