A general comment.. a wine by itself can be a fine pleasure, yet most wines are drunk with food which entirely changes their appreciation from being a solo singer to that of a chorus. This was recently brought home to me when I had a delightful dinner of italian food. It was a simple pasta dish with an asiago cheeze cream sauce, pasta, mesquite grilled chicken, chives and portebello mushrooms and fresh bread from the oven. The wine was a smoothe chianti, probably about 8- 10. a bottle, a little sweet, grape coming through without a lot of complexity... who knows, it was the house wine! I considered other wines mentally which would have added more depth, then found myself enjoying the simplicity of a good drink and a hearty dinner.
