Does anyone know who Sara K. is? How about Rebecca Pidgeon? Eddie Daniels? The Fred Hersh Trio? Ana Caram? Paquito D'Rivera? Oregon? Badi Assad? Bruce Dunlap? David Chesky? OK then, how about Kenny Rankin?

Just curious....

Actually Paul if we go back even further I credit one man more than most for where Rock (or most music is today) Benny Goodman who had the conviction of his belief in free form to break tradition and bring the first (popular and publicly accepted) ALTERNATIVE music to mainstream America. He was very influenced by the black musicians of his day and mixed their style with his own which was the first time the masses accepted this veering from the norm.

"In fact, punk rock came about in the late 1970s as a rebellion against the excesses of commercial rock music of the 60s and 70s."

That kind of sounds like a child to me. Rebelling against their parents trying to establish their own identity. Actually Paul Punk started in the 60's not the 70's. The link below will give you some album names that have captured some of those groups and their songs.
