My son brought home two of them from Fry's and neither would boot up.

My experience with microprocessors indicates that they usually are more useful as part of a system.

Your son seems to be as technically challenged
as you are and apparently does not know that it is
really hard to plug K6 into a slot-1 board.
You should have better success to boot it up by
plugging K6 into AC outlet. Have more happy
experience by posting outright lies and stupid
assertions.
