Your whole post really struck a key. I agree that if the CompUSA is the only vendor to have the 3500 retail it is a great opportunity ( Ebworld link listing 3500 - ebworld.com ) and will do a great job for maximizing impact at the retail level. If CompUSA (and perhaps EB) does have this relationship, and V3 is as successful as hoped, as a retail competitor (Best Buys, etc..) wouldn't you consider a similar "3dfx" section in order to develop a similar relationship.

Take it a step further, CompUSA is the largest computer retailer I believe. In conjunction with TDFX marketing dollars they significantly promote the 3Dfx brand in store. So in comes "joe" consumer that is looking to buy his "out-of-the-box" computer at CompUSA, has to walk past the 3Dfx media circus, to get to the "guy in the red shirt". What do you think the chances are that he will ask if any of the machines have "one of those 3dfx cards in it?". Do you think this will influence any OEM cycle wins? (OEM- why spend our marketing dollars when they are already being spent by someone else)

All I can say... is I hope 3Dfx does this right the first time, heaven help us if they drop the ball.
