Let me share few of my notes from Mondays talk by M.Dell at the Goldman Conf in NYC:
50 per cent of online sales, DELL
"We are having a great year in 1999", M.Dell
"international growth..Japan sneaking up, demand increasing big"
"Saving money, tech support online, saves $3 to $8 dollars per call"
wireless will get big in the next few years..biggest DELL cust..uncle sam..
just a few points..and when someone asked him why we have to wait so long after CSCO earnings release to get DELLS, he laughed, and said, "good question, think I will check with my cfo and find out why"
I saw nothing that even hinted of a lower than expected quarter..
"We are growing 50 to 60% a yr, so, we are just dealing with what is in front of us" :)
hope this is comfort to longs :)

Scott,

I am long on DELL. I predicted an earnings report of 34 -35 cents last week. I believe they will blow away the estimates on Tuesday.
Nice to see I am not the only poster to put it in writing. <g>

However, I do not believe they will announce a split on Tuesday. The price will head up after earnings and a split may well be announced around March 1.

This is what makes the market fun. :)

CNBC talking heads are repeatedly reporting disclaimer that They are not allowed to own indidual stocks. These people really like to emphasize any downtrends or volatility and I'm sure Their doom and gloom scares some inexperienced investors. Haines and Insana are like sharks smelling blood, Pisani and David are the only ones who are fairly objective. With all the insider info Faber finds out about most of them probably have offshore accts and are making a killing. Good trading, I'm doing DD and will probably pick up some Dell Tues.
