I think we went over this before.

My personal view is that, as long as what comes out are three (or whatever number) potential competitors in the PC OS market, the specifics of how the company is split should be up to Microsoft and its employees. After all, it's their money and their future. The government's only interest should be that the antitrust laws be enforced.

So, if the Windows Group and the Applications Group want to each form separate companies, that's fine. All the government should require is that each of them retain the right to use all of Microsoft's existing intellectual property, sell whatever products they want to make, and be reasonably capitalized.

This would look a lot like the OS/App. split proposal. The difference is that each could use all of Microsoft's intellectual property and sell whatever products it wanted.
