Maybe the Dr. can give you a cost/power/performance analysis.
Availability might be useful.

Pi, I sure would like to know the answer to those specifics concerning TI/Amati and Mot/CG ADSL chips. When I visited Westell in September they said that the then current TI/Amati chip had a great performance but was consuming more power than desirable. They demonstrated it for me running at 8 megabytes as well as a multichip ADSL modem using ADI chipset. The CG they said still needed to be "tweeked". My understanding was that TI would have another chip coming out this February that would be "spectacular". I have not heard more about it and would sure appreciate specifics. Pairs chip was also supposed to be very good. Why no takers?

I hope the good DR. can shed some light on this. Since it is with TI and Mot that Westell has special pricing and priority availability I can't see how Westell can be other than just another ADSL implementer without these chips.
