David, your answer is self serving. Look at the historical data and you will clearly see that all of the computer companies show strong seasonality, but in different directions. Those that deal primarily with the retail or consumer market have very strong fourth quarters; those that deal largely with corporate and governmental markets tend to have weaker fourth quarters.

Look at the data before you dismiss the point.

You also state that:

CPQ, GTW, and IBM will continue to make inroads on Dell's "model" with CPQ being the biggest beneficiary.

How can they be making inroads in Dell's model when Dell is gaining market share on all of these manufacturers? Also, you statement begs the question. They cannot "continue" to do that which they have yet to do.

These are all general statements (and not very original either, IMHO) and carefully sidetracks the specific issue at hand - the (valid, IMHO) objections raised against Jock's post wrt DELL's growth rate in the 4Q.
