Anatel punishes phone companies for irregular services

São Paulo, 12 - The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has decided to punish phone companies all over Brazil for postponing the installation of phone lines acquired over 24 months ago.
Instead of imposing a fine on the companies, Anatel will force them to exempt consumers of installation and basic subscription fees as well as provide phone cards.

Telerj, Telefônica, Telpe, Telamapá, Teleacre, Telepará and CRT have been given a deadline until May to install the lines.

Anatel estimates there are at least 270,000 consumers waiting for phone lines already paid for. (O Estado de S. Paulo/ Jornal da Tarde/ Gazeta Mercantil/ Jornal do Brasil/ O Globo)
