Whether we talk Amish or communes of old hippies living in the mountains of New Mexico, these people have isolated themselves to the point that they make little difference to the rest of the country. They probably are great people but in a sense, who cares? Their very isolation means we have little to teach them or learn from them. They really just don't matter any more.
