R -

Just for the record, Clik! was first introduced, as n.hand, in November of 1996. Just a bit over two years ago. Not three years.

But thanks for all those deep thoughts about why IOM is headed down. It had been at least a week since you posted those same things.

Mr. Reid,

I have been a lurker for quite some time and I think this is my first post here. I want to tell you that I totally resent you posting. You only offer negative posts and I am sure if a person has done his DD he could find something to post in a positive manner.

The title of the thread is "Iomega Thread without Rocky". I take that to mean you are not welcome here. Why don't you go to the other thread and spout all the negative garbage you want.

Thank you and regards,

Ken Moss

<<<Niche users may prefer Zip, but the average computer user has no real need for a Zip drive, nor do they care which removable they buy (hey- it comes free with the computer, right?).>>>

The average computer user (in 1999) has no use for a 1.44 floppy drive is more accurate! You can't even save a 'save game file' or a 'kids school report' using a 1.44 floppy disc. We are not in the days of the 500MB HD's and black and white printed book reports any more. Everything is either video, audio, or graphics. All of these things require the need for large storage devices. Their is a need now more than ever for Zip technology. To reason that ZIP demand is falling is ridiculous at best.

Mark these following words for they will prove me correct: Storage IS the future and IOM will be one of the leaders!

Debating about what company has the best technology is Foolishness. Having the best product or a better price is only 20% of a successful business. ie; Apple Computers, Sony Beta-Max, Advanced Micro Devices, Syquest, etc... All of these companies were favored to and should have hung their competition out to dry, but did not even come close. Why? Because of 'Name recognition'. The competition made a strong footprint first. PC, VHS, INTEL, IOM. People know these names and equate buying products they need with the names that they know. They don't care if it cost them more money or the performance isn't any different. They just buy the names they know, plain and simple!

So Rocky you can argue until you are blue in the face but the bottom line is, IOM is selling its products. The demand is huge (because of internet and Y2K) and getting bigger. The bigger the demand the more doors are being opened to introduce new products. Most importantly, IOM already has that all important name recognition. They have a huge customer base in this sector. Develop a new product, stamp IOM's logo on the back of it, put it on the shelves of your local computer stores, and it will sell. Maybe it shouldn't work that way, but the truth of the matter is, it does. So go tout your no name products somewhere else.
