I'm a little afraid to go into an image if the restore is what caused the problem.

I can feel the pain. I am a bit PM shy due to my latest go around with 8.4+ gig drives and NT. Two messed up harddrives..it seemed like I was out of options..but held on and got her working again..albeit resorting to moving one of the drives to another machine for the latest PM fix before applying the DI punch.

I believe you have to have the latest Drive Image version if you want to restore from a compressed image. I would hope DI gives you an option to restore a file to a user selected location. You would not want to restore to the original location and overwrite the existing file.

I am still waiting for ONSALE to deliver the removable harddrive trays. Low prices are a bunch of $*&^#)(&! if they can not deliver the goods...AND I do not like the fact that they keep my credit card on file for future purchases.

BUY.com came through with the credit card refund today for six video cards..they are on my try again list..I can not say the same for Onsale at the moment.. too slow, they did not indicate any inventory problems when I ordered.

Latest ponderings on my machine.

First harddrive

Most likely an 8.4 (or 6.4 since I have two) for the primary drive with an NTFS NT partition..same as your machine.

Second Drive

Maxtor 17 gig with 12 gig+ FAT32 Win95 and some free space at the end for? I want a full Win95 install with programs..I still run into NT roadblocks.

Third harddrive.

I am thinking about a removable utility designed like your KOT to service NT and store Drive Images..a good use for the second Maxtor 17 gigger. 2 gig FAT NT/Win95 followed by ?? If I go FAT 16 I will run into the 8.4 barrier...FAT 32 and NTFS can not see each other.. This needs some more thought..maybe it has to be a smaller drive. I wonder if I can use FAT 16 extended partitions beyond 8.4 gig??

Fourth harddrive

SCSI hot swap 2 gig removable. I have two SCSI drives and want to put them to use (or they could be used in a RAID configuration with the Mylex SCSI controller<g>). I could install an operating system..Win95 in FAT16? and use the drive like a fancy floppy for moving files from machine to machine....with boot capability.

I do not think KOTs are in the textbooks.

Not until you write one<g> KOT is your baby....

Come on now. I think some folks at IBM would take offsense to this. The concept has been around since the advent of the PC.
