During the last upturn, the fabless companies faced a very severe capacity squeeze. I would hope they've taken steps to prevent a repeat . However, the same things that would save them from a capacity squeeze (long term contracts at guaranteed prices, for instance) are likely to reduce their flexibility. It's a tradeoff that each company will have to evaluate for itself.
