James,

1999 is the year Intel hopes to promote the sub-$600 package

Two little problems with this strategy.

1. Intel will sell products of similar performance for $1500.

2. NSM will sell products of similar performance for under $300.

Jim - Re: "999 is the year Intel hopes to promote the sub-$600 package"...this ought to hurt the already hurting competition. Who could imagine all that and Intel Inside too!"

Thanks for pointing this out.

Intel has "got religion" and they are LEADING THE CHARGE into sub-$600 computers.

As they integrate chip sets & graphics and shrink the Celerons, they will make money in this arena and losers like AMD and Cyrix will continue to LOSE more money and start to lose major market share.

Scumby is already worried like a scarecrow.
