Ali,

"Sort of confusing. I'd rather see them concentrate here for a bit."
Of course it's confusing to the likes of you and I, but you have to have faith that Bill, Nate, and Lucent know what they're doing. Also, Schmieg is already in place to head these expansions up, and I think he is pretty sharp. This probably won't take much if anything away from the US effort, since Schmieg is ready to role internationally. It will also probably be mostly a Lucent effort, who will just hand WinStar the keys when they're done. There is a real short window of opportunity here, and if you want to be a player, you need to go for it.

Alex,
Dave Schmieg is the head WinStar International, "responsible for developing and implementing WinStar's international strategy and operations focusing initially on Europe, Canada, Latin America and the Far East".

Schmieg was formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of WinStar Telecommunications in the US.

Off the top of my head, I can't think where they set up the international office. I'm thinking somewhere like Brussels, but not sure. He is in Europe.
