"The problem with working for Intel, is that too much of their compensation package is based on earnings growth."

Yeah, that's real rough, take a peek here:

Hey Paul!, was it rough retiring 10 years+ early because of Intel's poor compensation package? Dumby Paul, he should have worked for AMD.

Scumbria - Baffled at your message. Never worked for Intel. Just invested the equivalent of $1.25 a share in 1983 and again two years ago (That part has only quadrupled in two years). If only I had been shrewd enough to invest in AMD. My biggest problem is that Intel is now too large a portion of my portfolio (percentagewise). I'm sure you have the same problem with AMD. I would be MUCH poorer today if I had listened to the AMDroids in these threads in 96, 97 or 98. Hence I take your advice with a ton of salt. And I wouldn't be so quick to be sure that $140 is the top ever for INTC.

AMD has ALWAYS been a strange company with quirky management. I dealt with them (and Intel) in the 70s and early 80s. Never forget that AMD has (according to either Fortune or Forbes - I forget which) one of the five worst boards of directors on the planet - always a formula for stock success. They didn't come upon their lack of success by accident. They earned it. One thing that could cause me to re-evaluate my Intel holdings would be if Mr. Sanders moved on.

Best regards,
Burt

Scumby,
RE:"The problem with working for Intel, is that too much of their
compensation package is based on earnings growth."...

I've noticed while communicating with Intel employees that the one great incentive they have is an appreciation on Intel stock price.
On the other hand, imagine the demoralizing effect that working for AMD and NSM must have if there is hope for appreciation of their stock prices, while the likes of Jerry Sanders skims what little cream there is, off the top and Brian Halla turns National Semiconductor into National Procrastinator.

RE:"IDT seems to be going up real fast as well"

Paul,

History: IDT is up 50% since December. Intel is down 20% in less than a month.

Predictions: NSM will be up 50% in three months. Intel will be down another 30% in six months, and I'm taking that to the bank!

Remember how much you took to the bank, Scumby.
