A lawyer friend of mine told me of a story from when he was in law school. The local police loved to troll the campus and ticket law students; guess they had a thing against them (go figure). Anyway, my friend was driving home from a late night at the library, and doing a half mile under the speed limits as he had one on his tail for about 10 minutes.

Wondering how to diffuse this, he finally pulls over and motions the officer over as well. He asks the officer if it is illegal to drive with only one headlight, to which the officer replies yes. The student then asks the officer for his ticket book and writes him up, which, it turns out, he is legally able to do.
