Actually he sounded stiff to me, and kept sounding like a broken record when instead of answering the questions directly, kept repeating the 3.6 times industry figure. I was hoping for a more aggressive stance; he was very defensive.

He did not say they are 'specifically' planning to move into the low end. The interviewer asked him if Dell would now enter the sub 1k market and his answer is that they are 'close' on the consumer side in pricing and in some cases 'below' on the corporate side. I also agree with James Brady's comment on dodging questions, he was asked about the 'large order' that was delayed and simply restated the 3.6 times industry growth mantra....
