Now, Intel was once a memory company when the memory business was going bust because of cut-throat pricing and low margins. They switched over to the higher margin CPU business and have done rather well. Similarly, I feel that the PC business is going to die soon and DELL needs to move to servers and storage, fast. True, mainframes and Unix still rule in the server business, but PC-based servers are gaining share (just wait for a full Unix port to Merced, it will happen) and in that domain DELL is gaining share by leaps and bounds.

As for new businesses, think Asia and South America. Enormous growth opportunities there, combined it is larger than the US consumer market.
