I agree with you on the dangers of waiting for a stock to prove its case. This is why you should always mary TA with FA or at the very least, if you are investing in a "value" company, you should see a catalyst that releases that value soon.

Rampage is not delayed however. For months now, 3Dfx has said that Rampage will be in Q3 '99 and I took that to mean August '99. So I can't blame them for a delay when there is none. My understanding of 3Dfx is that they do what they consider to be the best thing from a business/profit point of view and not necessarily from the short term Wall St./marketing point of view. There is little point in rushing in an advance chip to the market before there is the software and hardware that can take full advantage of it. When the new Intel systems ship in a few months and the software catches up, so will 3Dfx.

Now here is an important point, IMO: Given that John Carmack is on the board of nVidia, how does 3Dfx expect to protect its future plans from nVidia via a simple NDA? I can't believe that id software will not share their insight with nvda. Jason are you reading this? I think you should talk to your management about this.
