Allen, Re: WinZip, is it available in Windows98 if you have a downloaded Zip file that you want to unzip? If not how might one get a copy of WinZip or PKzip, etc. Thanks.

Thanks Allen. I had guessed that the Zip-file predated the Zip drive. I'm curious though as to the derivation of the "Zip" name, or whether Iomega had to purchase rights to use the Zip name.

"All of this relates only to DOS and Windows computers."

Being a Mac user, I guess that explains why I wouldn't know what a Zip-file is.

>>>All of this (.zip files) relates only to DOS and Windows computers.<<<

That's true, however zip and unzip is also available in Aladdin's StuffIt software for the Mac - so you could use it on Mac files if you wanted to.

Wintec has $199 Internal EIDE PC Castlewood Orb Drives IN STOCK. Ships with one Orb disk. Additional disks are due in just a few weeks.

Well, Jaz. I hope you enjoyed your brief period without any direct competition. Time to turn out the lights, and once again sink into dire money-losing circumstances...just like last year.

I think it was back in early 1984 that my business bought its first Iomega (Bernoulli Box) removable storage device. It has two drives which each accomodate a 10meg cartridge about the size of an 8x10 sheet of paper. It has always been connected to my original IBMpc. They all went into deep storage in 1987 when my Mac took over for good. Anyway, to make a long story short, I fired up this old pc today (dos 2.2) and had no difficulty accessing data on my 10meg Iomega disks(37 in all).

SUZZIE.....NO CODfish HERE!

I have no doubt that the overall quality of IOM products has improved markedly since that time.
