who was it who kept claiming that Intel's process had toped out at 450Mhz?

It wasn't me. I don't talk much about process technology because I know little about it. I have made comments to the effect that the PII architecture appears to be running out of headroom for speedpath work. I inferred this from the lack of improvement in clock speed during the last 12 months.

It does appear that they have made process enhancements that have led to higher clock speeds. If Intel had production quality silicon at 550 MHz, it would be in production. At this point 550 MHz PIII is as much vaporware as is K7.
