Hi Pronichev, right you are, the anode is carbon, plus binder. The cathode is lithium-vanadium-M-phosphate, plus some carbon and binder. It looks like the story behind the PR is that Valence has found processes to extract near theoretical specific capacity from the cell. I don't know what this would translate to in energy density and it's all conjecture at this point anyway. The 60% no in the PR can be interpreted in different ways as suggested by lws. It looks like another party was working on something similar(intercalation of metal phosphates) and has an earlier patent. This was Dr. Goodenough at the U. of Texas, I think. Apparently, the two patents are different, but also close enough to initiate some speculation that VLNC's might be "derivative"(not earthshaking or fundamental). This may be quibbling since getting to market first with something that works is fundamental to the company's business. The question as to whether Valence's patent is defensible against competitors in the long run is beyond me and probably not of importance, for now.
Regards.
