< CEPH Low MC:book (3)>

What is MC:book?? I have an option ticker @ work with bio's on it and can follow any option stock of interest. Let me know what names you are interested in hearing about (large blocks or unusual volume only of course)... I can also give opinions on implied volatilities (based on historicals) of whatever options you like. I haven't been posting size trades in the likes of AMGN as I don't think it brings much to the table... lately all I've seen is the ALKS and CEPH trades. The difference between the two is that ALKS was a straight call seller (profit taker IMO) and the CEPH was a "buywriter" buying stock, initiating a long position... both were clearly institutional.

If you look at the CEPH trade you can see that between now and May the guy is protected to 7.125 and makes himself 36% (less commish) @ $10 or above. I bought more stock today myself because besides thinking its cheap anyway, I believe it's particularly oversold right now and may sell calls on the bounce. The only reason I can think of near term not to sell calls at some point is positive Myotrophin news which would rocket the stock IMO, but that is so remote it's not worth worrying about???

Thanks for comments.

Also, if we can get a narrow enough time frame on an important FDA decision I believe there is opportunity (obvious?)... I was involved for instance in a fantastic trade involving Duramed where we knew within weeks the FDA would approve/deny their one and only generic drug that they had hung their hat on. MM's often can't believe the prices these things can trade at, and silly looking prices attract sellers... what they didn't know was that the stock ($13-$14) was either worth $23-$25 (approval) or $3-$4(thumbs down)... hence the straddle was probably worth $10 but that looks absolutely silly using the typical "normal distribution" options model. Now, market makers aren't going to just stand there and sell like nuts, but a bunch of people can easily by 25 or so straddles and make some nice coin. From what I can tell there isn't any hedge fund or savy group doing this type of thing, just depends on the situation, sometimes people speculate other times not. Any interest in an options thread featuring an FDA calander for unusually important upcoming decisions to play options?? Or perhaps just a biotech options thread?
