because of the weightings, wouldn't you want to include about the top 20 stocks and then a %filter of the remaining 480 approx.
does that make sense?

yep. They always come at exactly the wrong time.

I'm getting another line so I won't be able to post. My plan is to get Long early and hold as long as possible. Two scenarios call for either a choppy up day with the highs mid-day or a generally up day with a short sell off after 11 EST then a run-up into the late hour.
