Todd,
"anyone see old Herb on CNBC this morning? He never fails to amaze me. He actually said WDC would be investing $80mil into KMAG..."
Well, in a way they are--they're taking an equity position in lieu of cash. A little like those fancy stock options that upper management sometimes gets, where the company "loans" them the money (interest free, of course) to buy the stock they so richly deserve. In this case, two cash starved, punch drunk brothers trying to make it another day.

Todd, you make a good point. While HMTT may have only represented <10% of WDC media purchases, it may have been >20% of HMTT sales. I had my rose colored glasses on.

And I totally agree that what WDC did was in essence an equity investment in KMAG. But I think they may have written the operation off had KMAG not wanted it.

This is a step at examining core competencies and rationalizing business process. Good move long term either way.

I've not been following KMAG, did not know they were able to supply GMR media, nor that they had IBM on the line. They are doing better than I had suspected if this is the case.
