Alan: I reject the argument that a company's IR person is a higher authority than its published numbers. The company said that it reduced its material costs to 11% of sales. Even if they had been at 11% of sales all year long, that is still higher than what they claim to be the total cost of goods sold.

I could call the IR person, and I could get only two possible answers: 1) The numbers are wrong because we made them up, or 2) The numbers are wrong because we don't know anything about accounting or bookkeeping. Hypothetical answer 3)- The numbers are right - is not possible.

I personally don't feel comfortable investing in companies that give me answers #1 or #2, but if you do, please don't let me affect your investment judgment.
