You're too pessimistic. Once you close Pandora's Box all these good things can start happening and people see how wrong the decisions and ignorance of the past were which came from opening the Box in the first place. There is the mess that the past left which must be cleaned up.

Unfortunately, that will start happening in Fremont as the testing there discovers just how inadequate HFC is to carry IP telephony and cable broadband. I keep thinking about the need to truly be always on. Let's call it "emergency on". There is no way that we are close to mission critical in cable and that's where we need to be for cable IP telephony.

Yep, that's the part that made it worth posting ... and the lead-in is a dead-giveaway that this is a religiously motivated behavior ... as opposed to one whose basis can be independently verified by experiment.
