Good idea... I sent this email:
 -------------
I am a Microsoft shareholder, former employee, and frequent user of software products -- many of them from Microsoft. I support and applaud the decision of Justice to file the current antitrust case against Microsoft. I've followed the case closely and I believe you have a good case. I've also watched Microsoft work, and I knew even before you filed that there could be a good case.

I understand that the court system is not and should not be "democratic", that the case must be decided on the law and the facts, so this letter and others on the subject should have no effect on what happens in the case. However, I write because I've noted several appeals for email in an online forum and I figured the person who reads through it all might like a break from those who believe the government should ignore the excesses of commerce.

I truly believe that the case being tried now is necessary and healthy. Not only will the economy and consumers benefit from an end to Microsoft's predatory practices in the OS desktop market, but I truly believe that Microsoft itself can benefit from the scrutiny. I believe that a more open and competitive market will allow even more good ideas arise from the very talented folks in Redmond -- ideas that are now being ignored because they don't meet the test of promoting Windows.

The relief sought if the DOJ wins will be a good test. I hope you do a good job of balancing economic interests of all involved in the industry. I won't offer suggestions, but know that there ways can be found that allow the inventiveness of the people of Microsoft to continue to help the US economy while also giving room to others with great ideas and great execution.

Anyone wishing to inform the DOJ of their opinions of this "trial" may direct comments to them at the following address:
Microsoft.atr@usdoj.gov

Could I send an email to this address and pat their back and tell them good job?
