MCI Worldcom has installed an OC-48 (2.5Gbps) link on its vBNS between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The OC-48 trunks are powered by Juniper M40 routers which operate at wire rate performance at OC-48 speeds.

No split has been proposed. Just some people on this thread wishing there would be one. My best guess is that Chambers will get approval to increase authorized shares at the next shareholder's meeting and then we'll see a split announced around July or so.
