Remember the snippet you posted to me earlier that said something to the effect that it's the profits, stupid. Well I agree. But notice, the post did not say it's the profitability, stupid. There's a world of difference.

So yes, if Dell enters the sub 1K market profitability will decrease, both as a percent of sales and per machine, but they will do it only if it offers incremental profits. Remember, in business we try to maximize profits, not profitability. I would rather have a net profit of 8% of $25 BB than 10% of $19BB.
