Edwarda, far be it from me to to cast aspersions on those books -- particularly Ulysses, but the funny parts weren't there! I still roar with laughter when M. C. meets the American entrepreneurs. And I am still outraged at Seth Pecksniff (was he related to the House managers?), and chuckle at the Pecksniff girls. The parody on acting and the theater (The Great Bespeak section) was likewise a gem.

I must admit to not having read Dr Faustus. I tried several times, and finally gave up.
