My old Compaq had video that was billed as 6 MB. In actuality it was a 2 MB 2d card
and 4 MB RAM reserved for 3D applications. I do not recall what was listed in display
properties..the best resolution I could get was based on 2 MB

That's what my friend was telling me today .....something like windows only needs 2mb and rest
of the ram was reserved for 3D
Tell you the truth it was way over my head but he sure sounded convincing :-)

I have had the resolution up to 1280*1024 on my monitors with no prob.

Possible reasons for partitioning a drive.

1. DOS can only see 2 gig. So If you have an 8 gig drive and DOS you would need to
divide into 2 gig partitions.

2. You are running NT and Win95 on the same drive. You may want a 2 gig or less
FAT partition such that NT and Win95 can coexist in the first partition.

Well today I think I learned why you guy have both NT and 95/98
would the biggest advantage to installing 95 on my machine simply be
access to DOS ?

We ......should say my buddy was going nuts today because he could not get
in to DOS
tried to hook up a portable Zip drive to my NT machine to transfer some files
no luck
tried a portable hardrive / no luck
My version of LapLink would not load on NT
tried FX / no luck
He was not to happy today and do not think he will be switching to NT
anytime soon.

Could I put both NT and 95 on a 2 gig partition and then always just run NT
as my main OS ?
Would there be any conflicts ?
That is starting to sink in as a good idea I think

Thanks for the help
Tim
