I think we are seeing a fundamental shift in politics in the USA. The republicans have had a disastrous time as the majority party and are now in a shambles. They want to pull away from the "religious right" but cannot because without those votes they can't ever win the white house again and may even lose enough seats to lose control of the house. They need the religious right and will probably try to walk a tight rope about it but that may lose them votes in the middle with the same disastrous results. I see the democrats in the white house forever and the battle for the house always a close thing with the senate not far behind. The basic problem for the republicans is they stand for fiscal responsibility and smaller budgets, but to do that they cannot spend, spend, spend to buy votes as the democrats do. They then have to get votes on ideology alone and that platform is crumbling under their feet.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about the national debt now upwards of 6 maybe 7 trillion dollars. Our government is bankrupt! The surpluses that Clinton is bragging about are not real as they are still spending the entire Social Security surplus every year and just issuing the Social Security Administration an IOU!! Nobody retires, we will work forever. They are already tightening requirements to collect, raising the retirement age. More restrictions will come as this perk we were all told to expect is taken from us. Before I get to 65 the retirement age will be 70. They hope we die before we get it. There is no other way to avoid insolvency!
