>With the vast majority of Americans believing the President is in fact guilty of the crimes charged against him, the notion that Republicans are now hated for exposing him is ludicrous on it's face.<

Well at least it should be. Nevertheless we have a party that virtually claims Clinton has lied and obstructed, one powerful (and very knowledgeable) member of which flatly claims Clinton committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors. Yet that party unanimously argued for both acquittal for the President and an effective modification of the Constitution so as to be able to censure him. Americans allowed that party to win on the former account, and were it not for a few principled Republicans would have allowed it to win on the latter. So it would not surprise me at all to find most of Americans believing the President guilty, but hating Republicans for exposing him.

>Has anyone noted here the boos Carville got on the Letterman Show last week? Not exactly a rightist audience there- and they sure as hades didn't care to to listen to similar crap from him. He spoke of the American people standing up to save their President from Republicans and how wonderful it was that they succeeded...and was IMMEDIATELY met with a spontaneous and near universal BOOOO for saying it! A VERY interesting response indeed. It was heartwarming. :-)<

No doubt! I wish I had seen it.

>I Dare say again the Democrats would be wise to quit thinking they can play this phony issue for anything at all. I do think Carville (he actually looked momentarily stunned) is learning- if not the leftist posters here. What you've implied here, i.e. the relative suitability of airing these charges against the President Vs. the of airing the charges against Thomas, simply IS plain to everyday Americans of all stripes. Probably about 84%. :-)<

Well. I find it heartening that you are encouraged. Me? I would not trust the American people to recognize phoniness, manipulation and deceit even if it were clearly revealed to them in a thousand pages and supported by boxes of evidence.

I'm not so sure Paul Weyrich isn't right. I'm not convinced there is a moral majority anymore. I hate to say it but I fear it is true. JLA
