Your comments important and valuable, Jim.

They give us a chance to explore what defines customer satisfaction and how Onsale can put such insight to work. Two things are for sure: 1) No company has ever escaped the making of mistakes, and 2) No company gets useful feedback by reading its own press releases. These are the reasons your experiences, however anecdotal, matter.

Before we beat up ONSL's MS-Office 97 promotion, let's make sure we're "on the same page," so to speak. For the record, I'm posting a link to the offer with which I think you're concerned. Is this it?

We'll revisit the issues shortly.

P.S. Re: Farmington, CT "customer relations."

Had I parked at the Marriott's front door, I would have received courtesy valet parking, but who knew they had it? What the hotel failed to do was provide a disclaimer in their own lot to the effect that the town regarded it as a "profit center." $85 to park in a "handicapped" space? 70 percent more punitive than blocking a fire lane? Ticket written Sunday at 2:30am? And all in the name of a rural community's 200 "disabled" families who might be visiting or staying overnight in this business park hotel? Gimme a break! Marriott lame, local government out of control. Taking my business elsewhere.

I defense of ONSALE...

If you have access to the TechData and Ingram Micro catalogs you'll see that the item in question is in fact listed the same way. It's Microsoft who is "misleading" in their title of this product, not OnSale. You have a legitimate complaint. You are certainly stating hard facts. You're just attacking the wrong people. OnSale cannot shuffle through every item for sale on their site to ensure proper descriptions by the manufacturer.

It is very important to read everything about what you're paying for before you pay for it. That title is misleading, but further reading would have taken only a minute or two more.

Without knowing what OnSale said to you specifically it's hard to judge how blunt they were, but in my experience they've been extremely helpful to me.

Good luck!

Scott.
