The role of ATT in all of this seems to be getting short shrift. ATT has continued to increase its share of total wireless, using its marketing clout and despite reliance on TDMA. Are the ericcson phones "good enough" and "small enough" for consumers? They were good enough for my wife, who continues (despite my explanations) to be ignorant of the difference between the two and opted recently for ATT and the ericcson phone.

I'll take the dangerous position of disagreeing with George Gilder--but only slightly--and say that the tdma/cdma war is not yet won.

My point is that ericcson's moves are controlled not just by Europe but also by their position with ATT in the US.

Am I off base here?
