We are early on this stock if your criterion is buying in the brief moment before it takes off. But that expectation is completely unrealistic, particularly for a long-term investor, as opposed to a speculator or trader. For a long-long like myself, being a year or two early is far better than being two years too late, and buying a block at $7 instead of $6 is not all that critical, if the goal is a price that is multiples higher than single digits. And I think are chances are good with this company. For one thing, the infrastructure is materializing, and large companies are committing to this technology. As long as the economic logic is there, this can become a self-fulfilling prophecy on their part. If you look around, there are no competitors at Identix' level of technology, size, and strategic alliances -- especially strategic alliances. Identix also has the most diversified product line in the industry, and has been aggressive in positioning itself well. As to the privacy issue, I think it is significant, but can be solved. It will require a greater effort by the industry to get out in front of the problem by endorsing legislation that outlaws abuses. As to the various attacks on Fowler, most of them are by people who think they were entitled to become millionaires yesterday, and blame the Identix CEO that it isn't happening (I don't include Rob in that crowd, which is based on Yahoo). Fowler has not been perfect, but he has been very good, and certainly a lot better than anyone else -- including Pieper, who as far as I can tell was running a two-bit outfit for years before he hooked up with a couple of excellent technical guys running a very small outfit. To his credit, Pieper took advantage of that opportunity. So I have continued buying IDX over the past year, and am willing to buy more if the right opportunity presents itself. I can certainly wait a couple of years for this investment; it's not like I'm trying to live off the dividends.
