Hi, I atended a pre announcement here and talked to the speaker afterward. He was not an engineer but he thought that it was going to be alcatel. I must say that it was clear that pricing is going to be based on speed 512k, etc. There seems to be little or no interest in taking on the cable tv business. What gives here. Isn't the goal to have one pipe and a great price. If there are two pipes and one is cable with it all can't they kill off the telcos for lack of video.
I see the video as the key here. An example is one that I would love to see done.
EX. Using the internetlocal high school football.soccer, etc could be broadcasted live from the statium using the newest camaras and a cell phone. This would be done by an individual free lance that would open a gate on a website and charge a few bucks to see it. The low attendance at these games would broaden do to convience of at home access. Also it would allow relatives in other cities to look in.
Without telco video that means the cable guys have the unlimited pipe via internet service.
Is ADSL still just a faster Isdn for big bucks?
For most people i expect that faster without newer services doesn"t get it. Maybe thats why 60 million usa homes could go cable internet and less than 10 percent do so.What do you think?
