Ignorance and hysteria are tough to fight especially when there is an economically motivated entrenched faction determined to resist change and progress. It has always been that way. Many prefer supermarket tabloid stories to the truth and the Green fringe groups know that and exploit the ignorant and superstitious for their own purposes. The truth however eventually will win out, an army of flat earth societies notwithstanding.
