Jim,

You are absolutely correct. If they didn't include a picture of the boxed item I might not agree completely, but they are clearly misleading. It's easy for me to look at the item and see that it may not be the complete product AFTER you mention it, but if I were to look at it before hand I would certainly have expected exactly what you did. The complete product.

If OnSale didn't help you in this case which they obviously didn't, then I would be in touch with whoever issued my credit card.

I hope this isn't the way they're headed. I've dealt with OnSale customer service several times (though never for AtCost) and have been very satisfied with them.

I apologize for not taking a more objective view when I read that page the first time through. It seems that it's quite easy to read between the lines when you already know what the writing says.

Scott.

<< but no where does it contradict the header and state no CD is included.>>

Well, yes and no.......

In the product description, under "media included", it is stated that the media included consist of a certificate for the 3.5" disks. Note that it does NOT say that a CD is included. The only medium the offer contains is the certificate. Therefore, the product description is accurate. Note that it also does not say that a meal at your favorite restaurant, or a vacation in the Bahamas are NOT included <g>. The product description tells you what IS there, not what ISN'T.

Having worked at an internet retailer in the past, I can say, with absolutely no hesitation, that your interpretation of what the offer included would not be unusual. The major complaint we received was that the product was not what was offered. A previous poster made clear the reason - the database files that are used to provide the descriptions are usually provided by the vendor or supplier. When you carry an inventory of 10 or 20 thousand items, many of which change daily, there is no way to proof them adequately, and they are often incorrect or incomplete. IMHO, you have a valid complaint, although the solution seems fairly simple (the call to Microsoft).

Of course, none of this relates to your complaint about the time that ONSL customer service took in responding. Only they could answer to that issue. We could all guess (excessive load on service due to a somewhat misleading ad?), but all it would be is a guess. Let us know how they respond.
